What are the new NOCSAE youth football helmet standards?Updated 3 days ago

NOCSAE is the National Operating Committee on Standards for Athletic Equipment, and they recently regulated that by 2027, all new youth football helmets must weigh 3.5 lbs or less. This weight includes the facemask and attached accessories. Existing helmets that are over 3.5 lbs can still be worn after 2027, but they can no longer be manufactured. This is called the "ND006" standard. 

The new Schutt F7 AiR Youth and Schutt F7 AiR Youth Elite are 3.1 lbs, and with a 5-star Virginia Tech youth football helmet rating, it sports the best weight-to-performance ratio on the market. The Schutt F7 AiR Youth and F7 AiR Youth Elite far exceed the new ND006 standard.
